Nurse Coordinator

The University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Medicine isseeking a Nurse Coordinator to work in the Department of Neurology, Clinical Center for Adults with Neuro-Developmental Disorders (CCAND) . The Department of Neurology provides evaluation, treatment, and care for patients suffering from a widerange of neurological disorders including stroke, epilepsy,multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and migraine. We provide care through our inpatient and consultative services, our designated Comprehensive Stroke Center, our Level 4 Epilepsy Center, our 22-bed Neuro-Critical Care Unit, and our busy outpatient practice.

The Department also provides state-of-the-art rehabilitation services.

A number of departmental faculty received grant funding from the National Institutes of Health and the Veteran's Administration tostudy the role of genetics in stroke, epilepsy, and Parkinson'sdisease, new brain imaging modalities in multiple sclerosis,biomarkers in multiple sclerosis, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism and intellectual disability. Many faculty are lead investigators in clinical trials to identify new therapeutic approaches for a broad range of neurological disorders .

The Nurse Coordinator will be involved in the daily coordination ofthe CCAND assisting the MD and NPs with various patient-care related administrative tasks. The Nurse Coordinator will independently handle pre authorizations for the CCAND patients,manage lab requests and respond to patient calls, respond to portal messages and assist with RX refill. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential for success in this role, as the candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for patients.

Additionally, proficiency in computer skills is highly desired to facilitate the upkeep of a comprehensive database for patient data outcomes.

Responsible ongoing coordination of patient care-related administrative responsibilities for CCAND clinic patients,including but not limited to:

• Responding to patient phone calls in a timely manner
• Managing and responding to patient portal messages
• Reviewing, processing, prescription refill requests to pharmacies
• Managing pre-authorization requests, including follow-up and ensuring completion
• Managing lab requests and ensuring all applicable results are uploaded into Epic
