- Plan and implement clinical research protocols, including data collection systems and study scheduling.
- Deliver direct nursing care and specialized procedures (phlebotomy, IV placement, vital signs, medication administration, and biopsies) to adult and pediatric subjects.
- Collect, process, store, and transport biologic samples in accordance with protocol guidelines.
- Assess opioid withdrawal using standardized scales (COWS, SOWS) and pupillometry.
- Monitor, record, and document participant responses, maintaining accurate source documentation and communicating findings to investigators.
- Perform point-of-care testing and quality control procedures.
- Provide clinical coverage for assigned shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotation.
Required Skills
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license from the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Proficient in aseptic technique, infection control, and blood/body fluid precautions.
- Proven ability to execute medical/nursing procedures, operate clinical equipment, and perform patient assessment.
- Effective oral and written communication skills for cross-functional team collaboration.
- Data management capability to gather, interpret, and process qualitative and quantitative study data.
- Proficiency with computers and clinical software systems.
- Physical capacity to manage extensive standing and walking.
Preferred Skills
- Direct clinical experience caring for patients with substance use disorder (SUD).
- Specialized training or experience with opioid withdrawal assessment tools (COWS, SOWS, pupillometry).
- Prior experience working within a General Clinical Research Center (GCRC) or clinical trial setting.
- Certification in hazardous materials shipping, occupational safety, or environmental compliance.
Schedule/Shift
Flex schedule - 24 hours/week guaranteed, can flex up to 40 hours per week as required by clinical research study. Overnights and weekends required.
