Laboratory Technician

Responsibilities

We are searching for a Laboratory Technician to provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Institute on Aging. This is a full‑time, on‑site opportunity in Baltimore, MD.

• Receive and log samples.
• Maintain specimen integrity and verify accuracy of all information.
• Familiarity in working with proteins.
• Assign a unique lab sequence number to each specimen according to protocols; assess each specimen for condition (liquid or frozen), quantity (adequate or not), and appearance (normal, hemolyzed, icteric, lipemic).
• Comply with laboratory SOPs, regulatory and safety guidelines, environmental policies, and procedures; adhere to SOP and CAP regulations for data input in laboratory information systems, storage and retrieval.

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Minimum of one year of experience in research or laboratory setting.
• Experience working in Biorepository and familiar with biorepository practices.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD “public trust”; candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred.

• Previous experience with NIH.

The annual salary range for this position is $49,000–$81,000.
