Safety Manager

Job Summary:

The Safety Manager is responsible for leading, coordinating, and continuously improving the organization’s health and safety programs across the Pompeian manufacturing operations. This role centralizes key safety, health, and compliance activities that are currently managed within HR and Operations, providing consistent oversight, expertise, and accountability. The Safety Manager will continue to build on the company’s existing safety culture and active programs by strengthening compliance, standardizing practices, enhance training, enhance emergency procedures, and using data to reduce risk, prevent injuries, and support operational excellence at a multi-site, multi-shift manufacturing facility.

The role is on site at Pompeian HQ at 4201 Pulaski Highway in Baltimore and will report to the VP of HR.Safety Manager

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree required5+ years of safety or EHS experience in a manufacturing environment required

In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations required

Experience with ISO 45001, OSHA Star, or other safety program standards a plus Experience conducting incident investigations in a manufacturing environment

Experience in multi-shift manufacturing settings

Strong communication skills and ability to influence

Strong understanding of operations in a manufacturing environment

Continuous improvement mindset with a balance between compliance and practicality

Collaborative partnership approach and ability to lead others

Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel required

Professional certifications (CSP, ASP, CHST) a plus Safety Manager Pay & Perks:

Safety Manager

Job Responsibilities:

Safety Program Leadership & Strategy Own and administer the company wide health and safety management system across manufacturing operations

Evaluate existing safety programs and standardize best practices across sites and departments

Partner with Operations leadership to integrate safety into production, quality, warehouse, and maintenance activities

Serve as the subject matter expert for occupational health, industrial safety, and regulatory compliance

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, state, federal and local safety regulations

Lead internal inspections, regulatory inspections, and audits

Conduct job hazard analyses and risk assessments

Track corrective actions and ensure closure

Incident Management & Prevention Lead injury, near‑miss, and incident investigations

Identify root causes and implement preventive actions

Coordinate workers’ compensation with HRTrack and analyze safety performance metrics

Prepare & submit accident reports in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements

Training & Employee Engagement Develop and deliver safety training programs

Support supervisor accountability for safety performance

Lead safety committees and employee engagement initiatives

Promote a proactive safety reporting culture

Celebrating safety successes

Collaboration with HR & Operations Partner with HR on workers’ compensation, return‑to‑work, and training documentation

Partner with Operations on equipment safety, LOTO, CAPEX projects and contractor safety

Lead annual hearing testing, safety shoe allowance, and Industrial hygiene testing

Data, Reporting, & Continuous Improvement Maintain OSHA logs. KPIs, and safety documentation

Prepare dashboards, leadership reports and establish new processes…
