Marlin Steel is seeking an experienced and hands‑on Senior Quality Manager to oversee and align quality practices across multiple manufacturing facilities. This role is responsible for leading the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) across all locations, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 standards, and driving continuous improvement at an enterprise level.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee and standardize quality practices across four manufacturing facilities, ensuring alignment with company and regulatory standards.
- Lead and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all internal, customer, and certification audits across locations.
- Lead enterprise-wide corrective action processes, including root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Whys, 8D, and Fishbone.
- Partner with executive leadership to drive strategic quality initiatives and continuous improvement efforts through management reviews.
- Provide guidance and oversight to local quality teams, ensuring consistent execution of inspection, testing, and quality protocols.
- Monitor and communicate quality performance metrics, trends, and improvement plans across all facilities.
- Standardize inspection processes, sampling plans, and quality procedures across sites.
- Oversee supplier quality performance, including vendor qualification, incoming inspections, and corrective actions.
- Travel domestically to company facilities and vendor locations to support audits, quality improvements, and vendor qualification activities.
- Act as the escalation point for quality concerns, working cross-functionally to resolve customer and production issues.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to determine disposition of nonconforming products and appropriate corrective action.
- Champion a company-wide quality culture focused on safe accountability, consistency, and continuous improvement.
- Build strong relationships with plant leadership and departmental managers across all locations.
- Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to operational and strategic planning.
- 5+ years of experience in a quality leadership role, preferably overseeing multiple sites or complex manufacturing operations.
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 standards and audit requirements.
- Demonstrated experience managing audits, corrective action systems, and multi-site quality programs.
- Experience leading and developing quality teams across multiple locations.
- Strong ability to standardize processes and drive consistency across facilities.
- Proficient in measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and QMS or ERP systems.
- Experience in wire forming, metal fabrication, or similar manufacturing environment preferred.
This position operates across multiple production facilities and requires regular domestic travel. Work environments include warehouse and manufacturing settings with exposure to high temperatures, sparks, metal dust, industrial fumes, and varying noise levels. Appropriate PPE is always required.
