Quality Control Technician

The Quality Control Technician supports the quality assurance and quality control functions by performing inspections, testing materials and products, and assisting with internal audits and quality systems. This role plays a key part in maintaining consistent product quality, supporting continuous improvement efforts, and ensuring that production and laboratory processes meet established standards and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with internal quality system audits and inventory control audits to ensure compliance with established procedures and standards.
  • Inspect inbound shipments for damage, document findings accurately, and process materials according to quality requirements.
  • Perform quality control testing on raw materials, in-process work, and finished products to verify that they meet specified criteria.
  • Conduct sample inspections during the production process to identify nonconformities and support timely corrective actions.
  • Record, organize, and maintain test results, inspection data, and quality documentation in a clear and accurate manner.
  • Support the Quality Manager in developing, updating, and implementing the QA/QC plan and related procedures.
  • Collaborate with laboratory and production teams to resolve quality issues and promote best practices in quality assurance.
  • Use ERP and other quality-related systems to enter, track, and report quality and inventory data.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and ISO 9001 or similar quality system requirements during all activities.
  • Perform other quality-related duties as required to support laboratory and manufacturing operations.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in quality control or quality assurance in a laboratory, manufacturing, or production environment.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory testing, including handling samples and performing routine QC tests.
  • Basic understanding of chemistry or biology principles as they relate to laboratory and quality control work.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems.
  • Experience working with ERP systems such as Epicor or similar platforms for data entry and tracking.
  • Proficiency in data entry and maintaining accurate quality records and documentation.
  • Ability to perform inspections on materials, products, and processes with strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and their application in production and laboratory settings.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in both lab and production environments.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with quality, laboratory, and production teams.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry is preferred but not required.
  • Degree not required if supported by relevant quality experience.
  • Experience in ISO 9001 or similar quality system is highly preferred.
  • Experience using Epicor or a comparable ERP system is highly preferred.
  • Background in chemistry, biology, or related scientific discipline is an advantage.
  • Prior experience in manufacturing or production environments is beneficial.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Willingness to learn new systems, procedures, and testing methods as needed.
Work Environment

This role operates in a mixed environment that includes both laboratory and manufacturing/production floor settings. You will move between lab-based testing and on-floor inspections, working closely with production and quality teams. The position involves working around manufacturing equipment, raw materials, and finished products while following safety and quality procedures. The environment emphasizes flexibility, collaboration, and diversity, with team members who are willing to lend a helping hand and support one another.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.
