Job Description & How to Apply Below

CDI Labs is a premier proteomics-focused company dedicated to transforming life science research by revealing the complex interactions of the molecular world.

We are pioneers in Seromics, the study of an individual’s entire antibody repertoire. Our proprietary platforms, including the HuProt™ human proteome microarray and our advanced PhIP-Seq (Phage Immunoprecipitation Sequencing) services, empower global researchers to discover autoantibody biomarkers, profile viral exposures, and accelerate the development of novel diagnostics and therapies for autoimmune diseases, cancer, and infectious diseases.

CDI Labs fosters a vibrant, collaborative culture where technical excellence meets scientific curiosity.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Scientist to join our team and support the development and packaging of phage immunoprecipitation sequencing (PhIP-seq) libraries. This is a hands‑on wet lab role with opportunities to contribute to platform development and assay optimization. The ideal candidate is a self‑starter who thrives in a fast‑paced research environment and takes ownership of their work from design through execution.

To apply please send your resume to Dr Barney E Saunders (CEO)  or Dr Jessica Dunn (Senior Scientist and Hiring Manager)

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, construct, and package PhIP-seq peptide display libraries using T7 bacteriophage display systems.
  • Execute cloning workflows including restriction digestion/ligation and directional cloning into phage display vectors.
  • Prepare NGS libraries, conduct plaque assays, and perform library QC including representation and coverage analysis.
  • Perform DNA quantification, PCR, and gel electrophoresis to support library construction and quality control.
  • Maintain detailed lab notebooks and SOPs to ensure batch‑to‑batch consistency and reproducibility.
  • Troubleshoot library packaging failures and implement systematic optimizations.
  • Contribute to automation and high‑throughput workflows using liquid handling platforms.
  • Support other platform development initiatives as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • PhD in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related life science field.
  • Proficiency in core wet bench molecular biology: cloning, bacterial culture, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and DNA quantification.
  • Hands‑on experience with NGS library preparation and data analysis.
  • Experience with bacteriophage or viral vector systems.
  • Familiarity with molecular biology software such as Snap Gene, Vector Bee, Benchling, or equivalent.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation habits, and commitment to reproducibility.
Highly Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience in high‑throughput biology and laboratory automation (e.g., liquid handlers, robotic platforms).
  • Background in protein expression systems (bacterial, mammalian, yeast, cell‑free etc.).
  • Background working in a research or industry lab focused on developing and scaling new biological platforms or technologies.
  • Familiarity with oligo library synthesis providers (e.g., Twist Bioscience).
  • Knowledge of PhIP‑seq, phage display, or related immunoproteomics technologies.
  • Proficiency in R, Python, or command‑line tools for bioinformatic QC.
Interpersonal & Professional Skills
  • Self‑motivated and agentic, able to drive projects forward independently with minimal oversight.
  • Collaborative team player who communicates proactively across disciplines.
  • Resilient troubleshooter who approaches experimental failures with curiosity and rigor.
  • Strong time management skills, particularly for workflows with time‑sensitive steps.
  • Clear and concise communicator, both in written documentation and team settings.

We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome applicants from all backgrounds.
