Research Project Assistant
We are seeking a Research Project Assistant who will provide entry‑level administrative support for a research project. The role involves community outreach, data collection, sample collection, laboratory work, and field work. The assistant will collect and organize data by implementing research procedures and understanding research goals.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities- Assist with collection and organization of data per study requirements, e.g., participant interviews, administering questionnaires, and conducting background research.
- Assist with setting up tools and procedures for data collection and study processes.
- Enter data into the database.
- Run routine queries of the data.
- Perform basic literature searches.
- Other duties as assigned.
- The Research Project Assistant will need a license and access to a car. The position requires traveling up to two (2) hours from campus to conduct study visits.
- Ability to build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds, even in unpredictable and chaotic environments.
- High school diploma or graduation equivalent.
- Six months of work experience.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond high school, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
- Bachelor's Degree or background in Public Health, Psychology, or Sociology.
- Prior experience handling confidential data and/or administering cognitive assessment measures is not essential but would be a significant advantage.
- Accuracy, attention to detail, organization of materials, and ability to manage time effectively.
- Proficiency with laptops, tablets, computers, and MS Office applications, or the ability to learn quickly.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the public and family “gatekeepers” while maintaining data confidentiality.
- Creative problem‑solving and grit in the face of challenges are essential for successful completion of required work.
- Excellent communication skills and flexibility with study participants.
