The laboratories of Drs. Ted and Valina Dawson are seeking applications for postdoctoral fellow and research scientist positions to study Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, and stroke using novel technologies.

We are seeking candidates with a PhD or MD/PhD degree. A demonstrated record of achievements and publications is required. Candidates are expected to have excellent organizational and communication skills and the critical thinking abilities needed to engage in interactive and discovery-driven research. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Areas of interest:

Synuclein strain biology and biophysical characterization: Candidates with experience in α-synuclein seed amplification assays (SAA/PMCA/RT-QuIC), biophysical characterization of amyloid fibrils (ThT, ANS, DLS, zeta potential, CD), transmission electron microscopy, proteinase K digestion / dot blot.

Neurocircuitry: Candidates with experience using viral vectors, optogenetics, stereotaxic surgery, RNA-seq, single-cell sequencing, and microscopy are preferred.

Stem cell biology: Candidates with experience in the culture, differentiation, and analysis of ES and/or iPS cells. Expertise in biochemistry, ubiquitination, or poly(ADP-ribose) biology is preferred.

Neuroinflammation: Expertise in adaptive and/or innate immunity is preferred.

Structural biology: Expertise in protein biochemistry and protein crystallization or cryo-EM is preferred, including the ability to apply the latest cryo-EM technologies such as in situ cryogenic electron microscopy (cryo-ET) on tissue, focused ion beam (FIB) milling, and subtomogram averaging.
