PREP Research Associate
This position is part of the National Institute of Standards (NIST) Professional Research Experience (PREP) program. It requires collaboration with academic institutions on scientific research projects of mutual interest, with employees performing technical work that underpins scientific research, focusing on community resilience and disaster mitigation.

Title:
Community Resilience Metrics and Survey Research for Field Studies and Investigations

The work will entail- Indicator development, statistical analysis, econometrics, scale development, and validation studies.
- Communication of results in various formats to support development of a community resilience assessment methodology.
- Carry out indicator development methodologies.
- Compile and clean large datasets.
- Determine methods to analyze complex data for validation.
- Develop innovative methods and research directions that support goals.
- Present results at internal meetings and occasional external stakeholder meetings.
- Ensure that results, protocols, datasets, and documentation have been archived or otherwise transmitted to the larger organization.
- PhD in Urban Planning or a Social Science discipline, or PhD in Civil or Structural Engineering, or related field.
- 5 years of relevant experience.
- Expertise in statistical analysis.
- Knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
- Familiarity with publicly available data sources.
- Ability to work with complex data at varying spatiotemporal scales.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, and ability to clearly write technical reports.
The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on Johns Hopkins University's good faith belief at the time of posting.
