A full time Post-Doctoral research position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Daniel Forman in the Division of Cardiology atthe University of Maryland, Baltimore immediately.
This position is ideal for an early-to-mid-career scientist who has recently completed a postdoctoral fellowship and is looking for a role that bridges high-level collaborative science with career independence. You will play a role in an active R01-funded program(NIH- NIA grant Adjuvant Nitrate to Boost Exercise-inducedHealth Benefits in Older Adults) while having the mentorship, resources, and intellectual freedom to develop your own independent grant proposals (e.g., K-awards, R21, or R01).
The initial role will provide effort on an NIH-funded multicenter clinical trial(BOOST-X), a randomized trial evaluating whether dietary nitrate supplementation enhances the benefits of combined endurance and resistance exercise training in older adults.
- R01 Project Leadership: Oversee and execute coreexperiments, protocol design, and data management for an ongoing,NIH-funded R01 project.
- Independent Research Development: Conceptualize andpilot independent scientific questions that align with the broaderlab mission; actively prepare and submit mentored or independentgrant applications.
- Scientific Dissemination: Lead the writing, submission,and revision of high-impact peer-reviewed manuscripts; present research findings at major national and international conferences.
- Mentorship & Supervision: Assist in training andguiding graduate students, other postdoctoral fellows, and researchtechnicians in advanced exercise physiology methodologies andscientific writing.
- Methodological Oversight: Maintain high standards of laboratory techniques (e.g., invasive/non-invasive exercisetesting, metabolic profiling, muscle biopsies, vascular testing, ormolecular analyses).

Qualifications :Required:
- Education: PhD in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology,Kinesiology, Applied Physiology, or a related field.
- Experience: 1–5 years of postdoctoral researchtraining with a demonstrated trajectory toward scientificautonomy.
- Publication Record: A strong publication historyfeaturing authorship on papers in reputable, peer-reviewedjournals within the field.
