Description

The LIMBS Laboratory, directed by Prof. Noah J. Cowan in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow. The applicant accepted to this position will primarily work with an existing neural dataset collected from the hippocampus of rats performing a three-dimensional free-choice gap-crossing task. The fellow will lead the analysis of this dataset and will be a lead author on a manuscript prepared for submission to a peer-reviewed journal.

This includes refinement of existing analysis pipelines, development of new statistical analyses, figure preparation, and drafting and revision of themanuscript through submission and review.

The fellow will also contribute to general tasks around the laboratory. Responsibilities include maintaining the lab'sbehavioral and instrumentation infrastructure, supporting graduate and undergraduate students on related projects, and presenting atlab meetings. Fellows are also expected to contribute to the sharedupkeep of laboratory space and equipment.

Qualifications
  • PhD in mechanical engineering or closely related field,completed by the start date.
  • Strong programming ability in MATLAB including significant experience working with large, multimodal datasets.
  • Expertise with quantitative analysis of animal behavior and invivo electrophysiology, especially hippocampal recordings.
  • Expertise in statistical modeling for neural and behavioraldata.
