• Greet every guest in a friendly manner as they enter the restaurant.
• Check the host podium for complete setup of materials and supplies at the start and end of the shift.
• Clean menu covers, replace old or worn menus, and distribute them to bars and dining rooms.
• Escort guests to requested and/or prearranged tables.
• Assist servers with duties such as resetting tables or fulfilling guest requests.
• Answer the phone promptly with a friendly and cordial greeting.
• Communicate with customers and vendors, relay incoming calls to the appropriate people, and take messages.
• Actively listen patiently and politely to customer inquiries and complaints, providing specific and accurate information about the restaurant operation, directions to the restaurant, and menu information.
• Direct customer complaints and other problematical calls to the appropriate people; manage reservations, review reservation book, and inform customers about seating availability while accurately recording reservations.
• Prepare menus and reservations for the arrangement of tables and chairs for large parties.
• Assist and direct personnel in the arrangement of tables and chairs for large parties.
• Bid all departing parties a closing salutation and “Thank You.”
• Inspect bathrooms; clean and restock bathrooms with supplies as needed.
• Check back at tables to ensure customer satisfaction and work on customer relations.
