Job Overview
The Part-Time cake Decorator provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service while decorating bakery products for sale in accordance with company standards and customer preferences. This role also supports deli operations by assisting customers with the selection of fresh meats, cheeses, salads, and hot foods as needed. The Cake Decorator ensures food is handled safely and maintains a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment at all times.

• Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by demonstrating care, concern, and patience in all interactions, treating customers as the top priority.
• Greet and acknowledge customers in a friendly manner throughout the store, including outside the primary department.
• Ice, decorate, package, label, and price bakery products for refrigerated island cases.
• Ice, decorate, tray, and maintain freezer and refrigerated bakery displays.
• Take customer orders at the deli counter and slice products as requested.
• Weigh, date, price, label, and wrap deli and bakery products.
• Follow proper food safety and sanitation procedures, keeping work areas clean and organized.
• Review product quality and freshness regularly.
• Monitor temperatures of all hot and cold holding units to ensure food safety compliance.
• Clean and sanitize all deli and bakery equipment daily.
• Ensure all food handling complies with local health department regulations.
• Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.

• Ability to understand and follow verbal and demonstrated instructions, and request supplies verbally or in writing.
• Knowledge of cake decorating techniques and bakery presentation.
• Visual ability including clarity of vision at distances greater than 20 inches and less than 20 feet, color vision, depth perception, and field of vision.
• Ability to work in refrigerated and frozen environments when retrieving product.
• Ability to assist with food preparation including salads, sandwiches, fried chicken, fish, and other deli items.
• Ability to safely operate deli equipment such as slicers and fryers.
• Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
