General Duties

  • Open and close the store in the absence of management, including system start‑ups, cash handling, and ensuring the floor and stock room are ready for the business day. Responsible for opening the back door for deliveries.
  • Complete product returns, order voids, customer refunds, cash drops to the safe, and provide change as requested to cash registers.
  • Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
Customer Experience
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services, resolving issues and answering questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, including interpersonal habits such as greeting, eye contact, courtesy, and Walgreens service traits such as offering help proactively, identifying needs, and servicing until satisfied.
Operations
  • Hold store keys and open and close the store without management as necessary.
  • Assist with and coach other team members in the warehouse and vendor ordering process as orders are created, reviewed, and received, including opening the backdoor for vendor deliveries.
  • Register all related sales on the assigned cash register, recording scanning errors, price verifications, items not on file, price modifications, and voids.
  • Assist manager or assistant store manager in reviewing order exceptions on order release day and in reverse logistics such as returns and empty packages.
  • Assist manager or assistant store manager in evaluating and developing displays, including promotional, seasonal, super structures, and sale merchandise; complete resets and revisions.
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts and on‑hand quantities across basic departments, the stockroom, and overstock locations.
  • Ensure the Outdate program is followed with team members.
  • Handle basic department pricing and daily price changes; display proper signage to support accurate pricing of products and complete any additional pricing tasks related to local regulations or regulatory compliance programs accurately and within required time frames.
  • Assist with bookkeeping activities, including cash reports, cash counts, ledgers, and bill payment as necessary or requested.
  • Maintain exterior and interior cleanliness, neatness, and orderly store condition, including requesting repairs as required in manager absence or as requested by manager.
  • Assist with separating food items and product placement as specified by policies/procedures; assist with stock rotation using first in, first out method and restock outs for consumable items.
  • Have working knowledge of store systems and store equipment.
  • Assist at the pharmacy out window as requested.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products such as alcohol and tobacco.
  • Perform bag checks of team members before leaving the store.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
  • Attend training and complete PPLs requested by the Manager.
Communications
  • Serve as a liaison between management and non‑management team members by communicating assigned tasks when store management is not present.
  • Report disciplinary issues and customer complaints to management.
Basic Qualifications
  • One year of prior retail work experience as a retail key carrier or shift leader.
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of store inventory control.
  • Obtain and maintain valid PTCB certification or pharmacy license as required by state.
