Target Security Specialist

Role Overview

Starting Hourly Rate: $19.75 USD per hour.
Pay Range: $19.75 – $29.65 USD per hour.

• Promote an easy, inspiring and friendly guest experience by greeting guests warmly, helping them locate items, resolving issues, and concluding transactions with a sincere thank‑you.
• Actively support team efforts, assist peers in other areas, and maintain a positive, respectful attitude.
• Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver a seamless shopping experience.
• Promote a physical‑security culture, assessing and maintaining safe store standards, including exterior property.
• Respond to and document security incidents promptly using Target’s case‑management system.
• Use de‑escalation tactics and resources to manage safety incidents across the store.
• Conduct merchandise theft recoveries and provide apprehension support, strictly following AP policies.
• Prevent theft and shortage by performing merchandise receipt checks and recognizing trends.
• Operate Target’s video‑surveillance system and maintain accurate documentation.
• Work safely at all times, comply with safety policies, report hazards, and correct where possible.
• Perform additional duties as required by business needs.

• Age 18 or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Meet any state or local licensure or other legal requirements for the position.
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members.
• Ability to communicate on multiple‑frequency devices and operate handheld scanners.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Capability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong workload management and task prioritization.
• Composed, focused demeanor in a fast‑paced environment.

• Climb up and down ladders safely.
• Apprehend individuals in accordance with company policy.
• Lift, move, or handle merchandise up to 40lb without assistance.
• Work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping times.
• Operate in varying temperatures and humidity levels and remain mobile for the entire shift.
