Position Summary

The School of Agricultural and Natural Sciences at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore seeks applications for the position of Financial Program Assistant in the Office of International Programs (OIP). This twelve‑month, grant‑funded staff role involves providing financial support to the 1890 Universities Center of Excellence for Global Food Security and Defense (CEGFSD), the USDA National Institute of Agriculture’s Next Gen project, and related OIP‑led projects.

Salary

$55,000 – $65,000

Responsibilities
  • Perform financial oversight for CEGFSD, Next Gen, and related programs
  • Manage financial operations of OIP‑led programs, including execution of subaward agreements
  • Collaborate with SANS Fiscal Affairs Office, UMES Office of Sponsored Programs and Research, partner institutions’ sponsored programs offices, and other university departments
  • Create purchase orders and execute agreements with professional service providers
  • Process travel reimbursements and monitor outstanding checks monthly
  • Assist students, faculty, researchers, and third parties in resolving grant‑account issues
  • Maintain an inventory of commonly used research and university account forms
  • Maintain accurate records of financial instruments in compliance with data‑management best practices
  • Generate financial reports for OIP‑led programs’ accounts and subawards
  • File accounts payable reports accurately
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related discipline
  • Two years of relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of Workday Enterprise
  • Experience with research grants
  • Broad knowledge of information technology and complex software
  • Knowledge of Land‑Grant University operations

Physical Demands

Other Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. One year of professional secretarial, clerical, or administrative experience. Additional work experience may substitute one year for one year of the required education, up to a maximum of four years.
