Capital Electric has a Project Switchgear Estimator position available at our Baltimore, MD location. A Project Switchgear Estimator is expected to determine customer needs, prepare timely and accurate quotations for commercial projects, and develop and maintain customer and vendor relations to ensure Capital Electric as the Distributor of Choice.
Responsibilities- Skillfully and diligently prepare all switch gear quotations for your assigned geographical area.
- Skillfully work all assigned daily quotations for the entire assigned customer base.
- The sales effort will include, but not be limited to power distribution equipment.
- Command a complete working knowledge of all assigned and potential accounts. Specifically, in reference to their existence, product and service potential, product and service needs, organizational structure, and financial condition.
- Success will be evaluated by the degree of product knowledge, application ability, administrative skill, breadth of sales compared to opportunity, relationship with vendors, customers and co-workers, sales dollars, and gross profit dollars as compared against the company standards.
- Organize all necessary information to properly document daily bid activity, sales performance, bid results, sales targets, and competitive activity. Analyze the market conditions of the assigned territory. Prepare and summarize this information on a monthly report by the first day of each month.
- Develop and maintain an active and historical database using Lotus/Excel.
- Bid all requests from assigned customer group that falls into our product and service offering. Work with the Sales Manager when questions arise as to viability.
- Work with the Sales Manager or independently to acquire necessary pricing in the time frame required to deliver the bid on time.
- Insure bid is inclusive of all mandatory requirements.
- Update and maintain the necessary catalog information required for efficient quotations.
- Insure a professional bid package to promote a positive market image.
- Identify methods to increase the effectiveness of the department and recommend any applicable changes.
- Develop superior industry knowledge via self-study program to include switch gear and related products, design criteria, proper use of products, and code requirements.
- Be prepared to solve problem and recommend solutions using your knowledge or that of your associates.
- Participate and be involved in the local industry associations that serve your customer group. Attend any specified industry trade shows.
- Provide assistance to any other department of Capital Electric as may be required to support any customer or fellow employee.
- Command a thorough working knowledge of Lotus/Excel
- 3-4 years’ experience in the electrical industry preferred
- Product knowledge and expertise
- Ability to work in a challenging deadline-oriented atmosphere
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good and dependable mathematic skills
- Computer and Microsoft Office skills
- Reliable, responsible, and a great work ethic
Salary: $65,000 to $80,000 with bonus potential
