Senior Therapeutic Area Specialist, Rheumatology
• Baltimore, MD

Senior Therapeutic Area Specialist (TAS) plays a critical role in driving adoption of BMS Rheumatology portfolio among healthcare providers. The TAS is field‑based and engages National Thought Leaders, Regional Thought Leaders, and community clinicians to deliver a differentiated science‑driven customer experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promotes approved indications of BMS products within a defined territory or region to meet or exceed assigned sales targets.
  • Organizes promotional programs such as lunch‑&‑learn and speaker sessions.
  • Creates demand for BMS medicines by articulating clinical and scientific rationale for appropriate patient use.
  • Utilizes AI‑based targeting capabilities (CE3) to define call plans.
  • Participates in omnichannel interactions with customers.
  • Maintains a high level of scientific expertise in all assigned products and therapeutic areas.
  • Prepares and successfully implements comprehensive territory and account plans.
  • Demonstrates scientific expertise and passion when presenting approved scientific resources to HCPs while ensuring medical accuracy.
  • Conducts office presentations and discusses product‑related scientific information consistent with label.
  • Engages real‑time medical support to respond to unsolicited questions requiring scientific exchange.
  • Collaborates proactively with other field teams to ensure the best customer experience for HCPs.
  • Shares relevant insights internally to enable BMS to better serve its customers.
  • Complies with all laws, regulations and BMS policies governing conduct.
  • Adheres to the qualified driver requirement for company‑provided vehicle use.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Advanced scientific degree and/or 5+ years of pharmaceutical/biotechnology experience in healthcare sales, MSL, or clinical roles.
  • Strong science‑communication skills to convincingly present clinical data to physicians.
  • Proven sales performance track record with ability to meet or exceed goals.
  • Deep account‑management capability and experience building relationships with key customers and office staff.
  • Experience in rheumatology preferred but not mandatory.
  • Demonstrated cross‑functional teamwork with a positive, can‑do attitude.
