Salary Range: $62,232 - $62,232 per year
The primary work for this fellowship will be in the area of bariatric interventions in a large animal model and include techniques such as MRI-guided cryoablation, embolization, radio-embolization, novel intra-arterial therapeutic approaches, and the development of embolics. CT, X-ray angiography, PET-CT, MRI, magnetic particle imaging (MPI), and magnetic hyperthermia (MHT) will be utilized. A secondary aspect may be in the area of radiopharmaceutical therapy (RPT) for osteosarcoma.
The candidate will be involved in all aspects of the studies from simulations/phantoms study design, data acquisition, in vivo animal experiments, data analysis, and manuscript writing.
- Organizing and performing large animal experiments in bariatric interventional radiology (IR) techniques and cardiac catheterization
- Hands‑on training in percutaneous and intravascular/cardiac interventions will be taught under the supervision of Drs. Kraitchman and Weiss
- Performing follow‑up image acquisition, typically MRI and cone‑beam CT, as needed, with assistance from imaging technologists.
- Data acquisition, archiving, and analysis using available software tools.
- Pre‑ and post‑procedure animal care in concert with veterinary staff
- Organizing and performing studies in client‑owned dogs with metastatic osteosarcoma
- Assist with PET‑CT and SPECT‑CT imaging, image segmentation, and data analysis before and after treatment with RPT.
- Research fellow will be expected to submit and present scientific abstracts at national/international meetings and publish manuscripts.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, researchers and engineers.
- Ph.D. or equivalent in Medical Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or Chemistry/Biology or an MD or equivalent with experience in radiology, surgery, or interventional techniques
- Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative research environment.
- Familiarity with simulation software, Microsoft office, and database management.
- Experience in clinical research or basic/translation research or experience in radiological imaging is preferred but optional.
- Hands‑on experience with X-ray fluoroscopy or minimal invasive technique is desirable.
- Experience with radiochemistry or wet chemistry skills is desirable.
- Strong publication record in relevant fields.

The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on Johns Hopkins University's good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range.
