The University of Maryland Institute for Health Computing (UM-IHC) is a collaborative initiative in North Bethesda funded by Montgomery County and the University of Maryland Strategic Partnership: MPowering the State. The UM-IHC aims to build alearning health system for the State of Maryland that leveragesadvanced computation and medical innovation to advance healthequity and improve quality of life state-wide. At the IHC,scientists from across two University of Maryland campuses and astatewide health system collaborate with industry, commercializehealth care technologies, develop & test health care interventions to simultaneously improve health outcomes and contribute to Maryland's economic development.

The Director Health Technology Development serves as a seniorleader bringing together clinical medicine, data science, andhealth technology commercialization within the UM-IHC to generatemarketable health tech products. This newly established role is critical to the Institute's mission of translating emergingartificial intelligence and computational health research intoreal-world clinical tools and products. The Director will partner with physician investigators, PhDscientists, and interdisciplinary research teams to surface unmetclinical needs, define technology solutions, and shepherd those solutions from concept through validation and into the marketplace.

Working across highly matrixed academic & clinical environments, the Director leads by influence, coordinating thework of physician-scientists with that of engineers and data scientists to produce high-value clinical and research tools. Therole requires equal comfort in a whiteboard session with clinicians, a sprint planning meeting with AI engineers, and alicensing discussion with the technology transfer office.

The Director should be comfortable with ambiguity,skilled at managing competing priorities, and motivated bylong-term impact on patient care.

This position operates within a dynamic, matrixed academic healthcomputing environment, reporting to the UM-IHC Executive Co-Director. The Director will interact regularly with faculty physicians, PhD-level researchers, administrative leaders, and technical staff across multiple institutional units. This is astaff, not faculty, position. Travel to partner sites, conferences,or off-campus meetings may be required periodically. Hybrid work environment.
