Unarmed Security Guard - General

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TOArrive on time, in uniform to your assigned post Perform security patrols of designated areas by vehicle or foot throughout the duration of your shift

Keep a daily log of all activity during your assigned shift

Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities

Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards

Sound alarms or call police or fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons

Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking or carrying forbidden articles

Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitors entrances and exits

Observe departing personnel to protect against theft of company property

Provide assistance to customers, employees, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner

High school diploma or equivalent

Current Maryland Security Guard Certification (PREFERRED)
Strong observational and communication skills

Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work independently

Prior military, law enforcement, or armed security experience preferred

Guards will be expected to patrol by foot, interior and exterior of large facilities. Duties are to include prolonged standing at entry/exit and control points, pedestrian and vehicle traffic control stations with heavy volume. Requires rapid response to emergency situations involving personnel, costly equipment and facilities. Requires mental alertness and mental stability in dealing with people and emergencies. Some contracts, or assignments, may require higher, other, or special physical standards.

Functional Requirements Moderate lifting in normal functions, 15-44 pounds

In emergency situations possible heavy lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling.

Use of Both Hands Standing (possibly up to 8 hours)
Walking (possibly up to 8 hours)
Running in emergency and required situations

Climbing, use of arms and legs Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously.

Ability to see (with peripheral vision)
Far vison correctable in one eye to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other.

Depth Perception Ability to distinguish basic colors.

Ability to hear (aid permitted)
Environmental Factors Outside and inside

Possibly excessive heat, cold, dampness, chilling, humidity, or dry conditions.

Possibly excessive noise (and ear protection must be worn).Possibly electrical components and/or energy.

Possibly slippery and/ or uneven walking surfaces

Possibly working on ladders and/or scaffolding

Possibly working around moving objects and/or vehicles.

Possibly working alone or closely with others

Probably protracted and/or irregular hours of work
