LocationBaltimore City, 319 W. Monument St., Baltimore, Maryland 21201.
Responsibilities- Directly supervise Sergeant’s detail OIC’s in transportation/escort duties.
- Coordinate and control movement of inmates, staff, and vehicles per established policies.
- Supervise Correctional Officer Sergeants and Correctional Officers.
- Schedule daily post assignments.
- Conduct security rounds in courtrooms, inmate holding areas, and MCTU hub.
- Monitor travel routes used by MCTU personnel.
- Track and document daily court, shipping and transfer activity.
- Respond to emergencies.
- Inspect vehicles and practice safe driving.
- Document and report officer leave categories (Late, Sick, Emergency Personal Leave, Annual Leave, IWIF).
- Conduct roll call.
- Conduct uniform inspections.
- Maintain weapons proficiency and practice weapons security.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of division and MCTU policies and procedures.
- Prepare performance evaluations.
- Make random inspections of officers' pick‑up/return and restraint procedures at institutions and courts.
- Provide professional counseling.
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalency certificate acceptable; additional education credit hours may substitute required experience as specified by the Correctional Training Commission. - Experience:
Two years supervising correctional officers in custody and security of adult inmates, or advanced work as a Correctional K‑9 Officer or Correctional Internal Security Officer. - Licenses:
Valid motor vehicle operator’s license in Maryland;
Class C Maryland driver’s license may be required for operating large vans. - Special Requirements:
Completion of all prescribed Maryland Correctional Training Commission training, including firearms training; proof of U.S. citizenship or resident alien status; minimum age 21; completed background investigation, oral interview, and physical examination. - Limitations:
Position available only to current Department of Public Safety & Correctional Services employees who are Correctional Officer Lieutenant or eligible for promotion.

- Annual leave: 10 days per year.
- Sick leave: 15 days per year.
- Parental leave: up to 60 days paid upon birth or adoption.
- Holidays: at least 12 holidays per year.
