Job DescriptionEngage in job duties outlined below, to reduce risk exposure in areas of cyber and physical security; and to promote our mission of safeguarding the people, property, reputation and shareholder value of the corporation. Lead analytical duties in support of security investigations, re-investigations and functions in order to determine trustworthiness of individuals who will work or provide services for the company.
Lead background investigation projects, communication, decisions, and recommendations for team. Mitigate security and compliance risks associated with insider threats (e.g. fraud, theft, workplace violence, and reputational damage) by performing personnel risk assessments and adjudicating background investigations. Follow regulatory procedures and controls (e.g., NERC, FERC) to ensure that necessary background investigations are conducted for employees, applicants for employment, and contractors. Serve as senior advisor on background investigation security concepts and policies and provide interpretation and guidance to stakeholders and leadership.
Review and evaluate reports of investigations and other data to determine if persons employed, or to be employed meet security standards for employment. Interpret the organization's security plans and policies with stakeholders and others in order to discuss, negotiate, and resolve problems and areas of concern in security matters. Perform vendor background investigation program audits and review vendor reports upon completion.
Serve as the point of contact for security compliance activities and audit requests. Generate, execute, and oversee corrective action plans. Interact with Human Resources, Business Units, and Security Specialists to properly adjudicate derogatory information provided in investigative reports. Respond to a variety of inquiries regarding investigative requirements, adjudicative guidelines, and adjudication status. Define, interpret, and implement program security policy within the Background Investigation Services department.
Develop procedures and controls to ensure that necessary background investigations are conducted for employees, applicants for employment, and contractors. Process and adjudicate high profile, sensitive, complex background investigation projects, new processes, compliance concerns, integration issues and other higher impact issues. Create and deliver professional presentations and reports, both written and oral, to key stakeholders. Attend briefings and other training sponsored by the security industry;
incorporate policy and program changes into the background investigation program.
