Maintenance Technician B
Transdev in Baltimore, Maryland is seeking a skilled B‑Level Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics and repairs to ensure our fleet operates safely and efficiently. Responsibilities include inspecting and testing equipment, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems, and repairing or replacing components such as engines, brakes, HVAC systems, wiring, tires and more. The ideal candidate has strong problem‑solving skills, the ability to analyze and diagnose issues accurately and a commitment to maintaining high safety and performance standards.
Compensationand Benefits
- $34.20 – $36.20 (Union Collective Bargaining Agreement Payscale). Starting pay $34.20 with progression to $35.29 over 1 year

Eligible full‑time employees will receive an additional 32 hours of PTO per year - Paid Sick Leave:
Employees with less than 1 year of service shall accrue up to 40 hours of sick leave in accordance with the Maryland Healthy Working Families Act and shall be able to start using this accrued time on the 107th day following the employee’s date of hire. - Company paid ASE testing, training materials and tool reimbursement.
- Adjust and re‑line brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and re‑assemble equipment.
- Align front ends and suspension systems.
- Attach test instruments to equipment and read dials and gauges in order to diagnose malfunctions.
- Disassemble and overhaul internal combustion engines, pumps, generators, transmissions, clutches and differential units.
- Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts and specified safety devices.
- Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition.
- Inspect, repair and maintain automotive and mechanical equipment and machinery such as pumps and compressors.
- Inspect, test and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts and pressure gauges.
- Operate valve‑grinding machines to grind and reset valves.
- Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries and lubricating equipment and machinery.
- Raise buses, and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists.
- Installs or rebuilds diesel engines.
- Recondition and replace parts, pistons, bearings, gears and valves.
- Repair and adjust seats, doors, windows and install and repair accessories.
- Rewire ignition systems, lights and instrument panels.
- Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.
- Specialize in repairing and maintaining parts of the engine, such as fuel injection systems.
- Test drive buses to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly.
- Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, lath’s, welding equipment and jacks and hoists.
- Other duties to ensure the safe operation and efficiency of the department.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and have 3‑4 years of experience.
- Must be able to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair all vehicles and equipment in service with minimal supervision.
- Mechanic B must be able to teach Mechanic C as time permits some repair techniques that are not routine in nature.
- Must demonstrate mechanical proficiency and mentoring capabilities.
- Must possess 608 and 609 air‑conditioning certification.
- ASE certifications required; ASE certification program provided.
- Must be able to work shifts or a flexible work schedule as needed.
- Mechanic’s tool set.
- Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
