State Highway Administration's (SHA) Office of Transportation Mobility & Operations is currently recruiting for an ITS Technician I, General Option, located in Baltimore County. This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum qualifications listed below. The resulting list of eligible candidates will be used to fill this vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies in this classification.
Natureof Work
The main purpose of this position is to provide support to the Statewide Operations Center (SOC) Coordinated Highways Action Response Team (CHART) Program and to SHA's statewide Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), fiber, and radio communication systems. This position provides technical expertise, troubleshooting, repairs, maintenance, and procurement responsibilities relating to various systems including, but not limited to:
Voice, Data and RF Communications;
Wireless Systems Design, Integration, Installation and Maintenance;
Digital and Fiber Optic Transmissions;
Communications Software Applications, Diagnostic and Programming Software;
Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS):
Speed Detectors, Highway Advisory Radios, CCTV Traffic Cameras, Dynamic Message Signs, Weather Stations, Lane Control Signals, etc.
This position is statewide and is required to report daily to the primary ITS Division office located at 5901 Baltimore National Pike, Catonsville, MD; however, the position may be reassigned to support regional communications and ITS functions. Primary duties require working on the sides of the highway and being exposed to highway speed traffic. This position is designed as essential and subject to 24/7/365 emergency call-out.

QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.Experience: One (1) year of experience repairing electronic communication equipment.
Notes:
Candidate must possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the state of Maryland.
The selected candidate must possess/obtain a Class B Maryland Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or comparable out-of-state CDL license within 12 months of employment.
