Seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Baltimore, MD.

This position offers full benefits including PTO, Medical, Dental and 401k!

Pay is between $30 - $38 per hour (based on experience)

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will specialize in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy machinery such as forklifts, bulldozers, front loaders, and backhoes. This role is critical to ensure the smooth operation of equipment essential for the company logistics and cargo handling.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair heavy equipment, including forklifts, bulldozers, front loaders, and backhoes.
  • Perform routine maintenance to ensure optimal functionality and longevity of machinery.
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical issues efficiently.
  • Perform routine maintenance, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and filter replacements.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and software to assess equipment conditions and identify malfunctions.
  • Replace, rebuild, or upgrade faulty components to restore equipment to working order.
  • Conduct safety checks to meet operational standards and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with department teams to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Maintain detailed records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations at all times.
  • Participate in emergency repairs and provide on-site support as needed.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 4+ years’ experience repairing and maintaining heavy equipment in an industrial, transportation, logistics or port setting.
  • 2+ years’ experience with Diesel replacement.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, prioritize and delegate tasks when appropriate.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Ability to work as a team.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Physical Requirements
  • Extended periods of sitting, standing, or lying down while operating or positioned under equipment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
