Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Maintenance/Construction Supervisor III, the primary purpose of this position is to install, maintain, alter, and repair plumbing systems and components at the journey level of the plumbing trade.
Key Responsibilities- Possess working knowledge of the methods of installation and repair of commercial plumbing, and understand safety precautions of the plumbing trade.
- Use power tools associated with plumbing trade, including cutting and threading pipe, as well as motorized and mechanical tools, while following building, life, and safety codes.
- Solder copper pipe and utilize the standard tools and materials required for such procedures.
- Create material lists for projects and submit them to supervisor for review.
- Map lead joints and install various types of plastic pipe, and replace stainless steel and porcelain plumbing fixtures as needed.
- Supervise semi‑skilled male offenders and be prepared for emergency call back.
- High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two (2) years of experience in the repair, replacement, or construction of piping systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- May require appropriate licensure by the governing board or commission based on the nature of work performed.
- Working knowledge of the methods of installation and repair of plumbing systems.
Salary Range: $39,244 - $68,679.
Full time (40 hours per week) with State Benefits including health insurance options, retirement plans, NCFlex supplemental benefits, paid vacation, sick, and community service leave, and paid parental leave.
