As a Hydrovac Diesel Mechanic, you will play a vital role in ensuring our specialized equipment is maintained to the highest standards, supporting field operations and contributing directly to our reputation for safe dig services.

You will work closely with both shop and field teams to keep our trucks and heavy equipment operational and compliant.

  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and services such as greasing, fluid checks, belt and hose replacements, alignments, adjustments, and comprehensive safety checks to ensure road and job-site readiness.
  • Troubleshoot breakdowns both in the shop and in the field, respond to emergency service calls, and coordinate with field crews to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Maintain parts inventory and consumable supplies, ensure specialty tools are available, and schedule work orders with operations to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Maintain accurate service records and inspection logs; support safety audits and regulatory inspections; stay current on OEM standards, diagnostic tools, and regulatory requirements.
  • Operate hand and power tools, welding equipment, hydraulic test benches, and diagnostic software; maintain a clean, safe, and orderly shop environment.
  • Occasionally travel to job sites and safely handle heavy components and work in confined or challenging conditions.
