Welder/Shredder Mechanic

An "A" Mechanic is a highly skilled technician capable of diagnosing and repairing all but the most complex and specialized issues related to mobile equipment. This role requires extensive knowledge and significant hands-on experience in repairing internal combustion engines, transmissions, electrical, and hydraulic systems. An "A" Mechanic works independently to diagnose, identify, repair, and return equipment to service, demonstrating a strong sense of responsibility for the performance and upkeep of the mobile equipment fleet.

To qualify for this level, candidates must possess full mastery of all skill sets and competencies required of both "B" and "C" Mechanics.

Required Abilities (In addition to the requirements of a "B" Mechanic) include rebuilding major components — including engines, transmissions, pumps, cylinders, motors, and electrical systems — to manufacturer specifications. Diagnose causes of failure and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence. Safely and properly operate torches, presses, pullers, winches, jacks, lifts, and other mechanical devices within their rated capacities. Use appropriate tools for each repair and demonstrate proficiency in their proper use.

Apply advanced diagnostic tools such as multimeters, computers, gauges, probes, scopes, calipers, and other measurement instruments. Direct, mentor, and take responsibility for "B" and "C" Mechanics assisting with repair work. Communicate effectively with supervisors, outside dealers, and technicians regarding equipment issues, repairs, and recommendations.

Skills and Qualifications include extensive prior mechanical experience, strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic ability, physical ability to perform heavy labor, commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols, strong decision-making skills, and being highly organized and self-motivated.
