Commercial Pipefitter
Skillforce is currently hiring experienced Commercial Pipe fitters for a commercial project in the Baltimore area.
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Pipefitter to install, assemble, maintain, and repair piping systems used to transport water, steam, air, gas, chemicals, and other materials. The ideal candidate has experience reading blueprints, fabricating pipe, and working with a variety of tools and materials while maintaining a strong commitment to quality and workplace safety. We are looking for dependable tradesmen who can work safely, read prints, and maintain production schedules on a fast-paced jobsite.
Key Responsibilities- Install, assemble, and repair piping systems according to project specifications and industry standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, isometric diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Measure, cut, thread, bend, and weld pipe using hand and power tools.
- Lay out piping systems and determine appropriate routing and support requirements.
- Install valves, pumps, fittings, flanges, and other mechanical components.
- Perform hydrostatic, pressure, and leak testing on completed piping systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair piping system failures and equipment malfunctions.
- Ensure proper alignment and secure installation of piping systems.
- Follow OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and job site procedures.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized condition.
- Collaborate with welders, plumbers, electricians, supervisors, and other trades to complete projects efficiently.
- Complete daily work reports, inspections, and documentation as required.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Completion of a pipefitter apprenticeship or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of pipe fitting experience preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints and piping diagrams.
- Experience with carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, PVC, and other piping materials.
- Knowledge of welding, threading, grooving, and pipe fabrication techniques.
- Strong mathematical and measurement skills.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50–75 pounds.
- Ability to stand, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
