HVAC Technician
Main Function:
Installs and repairs all aspects of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning. Responsible for performing preventive/corrective maintenance on all of the above named equipment, ensuring the equipment operates efficiently and safely. The intent of this job description is to provide a summary of the major duties and responsibilities of this position. Duties may be added and deleted at the supervisor's discretion.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs major preventive/corrective maintenance procedures as required. Operates tools and equipment as necessary to carry out job functions. May work with energy management system.
- Assists supervisor in determining priorities among corrective maintenance requests according to department standards.
- Assists in the installation of new HVAC equipment as directed.
- Participates in environmental quality control planning through research and design activities relating to air handling and refrigeration systems. Should have knowledge of energy management components.
- Coordinates inspecting repairs and installations with staff in affected areas to minimize disruption of hospital operations.
- Keeps equipment and work area clean and organized.
- Complies with safety and quality standards to optimize effective utilization of resources and productivity.
- Removes snow and salts roads and walkways throughout hospital campus as assigned.
- Actively supports University of Maryland Medical Center Midtown Campus's values and exhibits excellent customer service.
- Interacts with all patients, visitors, physicians, employees, and volunteers in a manner consistent with the Customer Service guidelines.
- Reflects the Hospital's values by performing to the best of your ability.
- Performs other related duties as assigned in order to meet the needs of the department.
- Participates in Fire and Disaster Drills
- Attends fire safety classes on a yearly basis
- Adheres to Departmental Policies and Procedures
Work Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
- Four years general clerical/administrative experience is required.
- Experience working in a development office, preferably in medicine or healthcare.
- Journeyman or Master certification preferred
