Position Description
Ryder is hiring an experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician in Baltimore, Maryland. The position offers weekly pay and excellent benefits.
Key Benefits- Hourly Pay: $27.00 per hour
- Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter
- Schedule:
Monday–Friday;
Weekends off - Hours:
Second Shift 3:30 pm – 12:00 am - Medical, Dental, Vision after 30 days

- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree or technical certifications (preferred)
- Basic tools required
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including:
- Routine preventative maintenance (e.g., oil changes, brake and tire work)
- Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience (preferred)
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
- Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass Ryder drug test
- Pass DOT physical
- Pass Ryder road test
- Pass Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check and a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.
Responsibilities- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
- Perform standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections
- Perform preventive maintenance
- Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer as applicable
- Identify root causes of failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
- Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
- Work in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
- Perform other support duties as required to support operations, including Service Island support
