Mechanical Service Technician Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Service Technician to support the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and optimization of HVAC and mechanical systems across healthcare and K-12 educational facilities. This role is ideal for a technician who enjoys working in occupied environments where reliability, safety, and customer service are critical to daily operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring building systems operate efficiently with minimal disruption to patients, staff, students, and faculty.
Key Responsibilities- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on commercial HVAC and mechanical systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair boilers, chillers, pumps, air handling units (AHUs), rooftop units (RTUs), cooling towers, VAV systems, and hydronic systems.
- Respond to scheduled and emergency service calls in healthcare and educational facilities.
- Conduct system diagnostics and identify opportunities to improve equipment efficiency and reliability.
- Assist with equipment replacements, retrofits, start-ups, and commissioning activities.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and equipment manuals.
- Complete service reports, maintenance records, and work orders accurately and promptly.
- Maintain compliance with all safety procedures, building regulations, and client-specific protocols.
- Build strong relationships with facility managers, maintenance teams, and end users through exceptional customer service.
- 3+ years of experience servicing commercial HVAC and mechanical systems.
- Strong understanding of chillers, boilers, pumps, HVAC controls, and related building systems.
- Experience working in healthcare, K-12, government, or institutional facilities preferred.
- Ability to independently diagnose and resolve mechanical and basic electrical issues.
- EPA Certification preferred.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
A proactive and dependable technician with excellent troubleshooting skills. Experience working in occupied facilities where minimizing downtime is essential. Strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and customer satisfaction. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with service and operations teams.
