Mechanic - Electrical

Performs routine to general electrical installations, maintenance and repair work.

• Performs minor or routine to general maintenance, installation, and repair of electrical systems and power distribution systems.
• Reads work orders, directions, blueprints, and schematic drawings to install and repair interior and exterior lighting systems and electrical fixtures, including receptacles, switches, doorbells and buzzers, alarm systems, thermostats, ballasts, circuit breakers and panels, irrigation systems, time clocks, motors, generators, transformers and computer terminals.
• Maintains and repairs communication systems, electrical heating and air conditioning systems and appliances.
• Uses meters, test instruments and circuit diagrams to locate malfunctions in electrical systems and equipment, and repairs or replaces parts.
• Estimates labor and materials needed to complete assigned work and requisitions supplies and materials.
• Maintains records of time and materials used to complete work.
• Climbs ladders to access roof tops to perform related work tasks and ceiling tile replacement.
• Pulls and installs wires, conduit and other material to perform tasks.
• Operates necessary equipment to install material (includes shovels, etc.).
• Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and non‑discrimination policies, and follows federal laws, state laws, school board policies, administrative regulations, and professional standards.

Maximum Salary: $35.60

Minimum Salary: $23.82

• High school graduate or GED.
• One year of experience in electrical maintenance, installation or repair, or building construction electrical work.
• Maryland Class C noncommercial driver's license or an equivalent out of state driver's license.
• Knowledge of the methods, techniques, tools, and equipment used in the maintenance, installation and repair of electrical lighting and distribution systems and other standard equipment.
• Knowledge of the National Electric Code, state and local building codes.
• Knowledge of current national electrical codes and standards.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools used in electrical work.
• Ability to layout routine electrical systems and to read and interpret sketches, drawings, and blueprints.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to interact effectively with others.
• Ability to complete routine forms and maintain records.

Full‑time or Part‑time.
