Traffic Electronics Maintenance Technician II
Salary Range: $55,218.00 - $89,995.00 Annually
A Traffic Electronics Maintenance Technician II installs, maintains, repairs and tests a variety of complex traffic electronic control equipment. Work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities. Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work rotating shift work and are subject to call-back. Work is performed in an electronics shop and outdoors where there is occasional exposure to inclement weather and traffic hazards.
Work requires moderate physical exertion such as bending and reaching to maintain and repair equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:
Education:
Have graduated from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.
AND
Experience:
Have three years of experience in the maintenance and repair of electronic and solid-state equipment.
OR
Equivalency Notes:
Have completion of two years at an accredited college or university in digital electronics, computer science or a related field or possession of a General Radiotelephone license issued by the Federal Communications Commission may be substituted for one year of the experience requirement.
Licenses, Registrations, and Certificates:
Have a valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license or an equivalent out-of-state driver's license acceptable to the Office of Risk Management is required. PROVISIONAL DRIVER'S LICENSE OR LEARNER PERMITS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of digital, analog and solid-state electronics.
- Knowledge of the techniques, tools and materials used in the installation, operation, testing and maintenance of traffic electronic equipment.
- Skill in soldering circuit boards.
- Skill in the use of oscilloscopes, voltmeters and related testing equipment.
- Ability to calibrate test equipment.
- Ability to diagnose and repair computerized equipment malfunctions.
- Ability to deal effectively with co-workers, contractors and the public
Additional Information
Background Check:
Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed.
Probation:
All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory six-months.
Eligibility:
Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.
Education Accreditation:
Applicants' education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Education credentials obtained out of the US must be evaluated for US equivalency. Evaluation agencies information may be obtained es.org.

Examination Process:
