Job Description
This position will be located at the Baltimore, Maryland branch for MGX Equipment Services and reports to the Service Manager.
Candidates hired for this role will receive a $4,500 sign‑on bonus, payable after 90 days continuous service, and be eligible for our Tool Reimbursement Program of up to $1,500 per calendar year.
Essential Job Functions- Operate and perform thorough inspection of cranes to diagnose defects.
- Diagnose, repair and troubleshoot various mobile hydraulic and lattice cranes; repair hydraulic and electrical components.
- Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges; read, understand and interpret operating and parts manuals, blueprints and technical drawings.
- Test mechanical, electronic, electrical and hydraulic products and equipment after repair or modification to ensure proper operation and compliance with OEM specifications.
- Prepare for jobs by checking parts and drawings for accuracy and completeness.
- Perform thorough and accurate annual inspections.
- Properly fill out working reports, hours reports, timesheets, hours overviews and expense reports.
- Capable of accomplishing tasks independently without direct supervision.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Mechanic/Technician.
- Experience working with mobile crane equipment, specifically Grove RT & TMS Cranes, Grove GMK European Cranes, Manitowoc EPIC and/or Traditional Cranes, National Boom Trucks preferred.
- Must read both electrical and hydraulic schematics.
- Must have excellent communication skills with a customer/client focus.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record preferred.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
- Required to purchase a full set of hand tools up to 1.5 inches.
- Perform job functions safely.
- Wear all Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) required by company policy.
- Follow established job‑specific and facility‑wide safety and health procedures and rules.
- Participate actively in safety and health training and demonstrate competency.
- Bring safety and health issues, unsafe acts, and safety suggestions to management’s attention or correct those you can.
This is a full‑time position with typical working hours between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Overtime and weekend work may be possible based on business conditions.
The physical demands include exposure to extreme temperatures and various weather conditions, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises. Employees may sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

This position offers a pay range between $20.00 - $35.00 per hour depending on skills and qualifications for non‑bargaining employees. Pay is provided bi‑weekly on a 14‑day pay period, beginning on Monday and ending on Sunday.
A customized training plan and career path is identified for each technician within the first week of employment, outlining growth and advancement opportunities.
