Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Overtime as needed to support operational requirements
Pay range: $34 - $39 per hour (based on Experience)
ResponsibilitiesJohns Hopkins Hospital is seeking an Electronics Maintenance Mechanic to support the operation, maintenance, and reliability of fire detection and alarm systems across campus. This role is responsible for completing preventive and corrective maintenance work orders, supporting system outages for construction and maintenance projects, and ensuring fire alarm and suppression systems remain compliant and operational.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on fire detection and alarm systems.
- Troubleshoot, inspect, repair, and maintain fire alarm detection and suppression systems.
- Support campus projects requiring fire alarm, smoke detector, or duct detector outages.
- Isolate and re-enable fire detection systems during hot work activities, including welding and grinding operations.
- Disable and restore duct detectors as needed to safely support maintenance and construction work.
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical documents.
- Follow National Electrical Code requirements, industry standards, and hospital safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance and testing activities.
- Communicate effectively with Facilities staff, contractors, and hospital personnel.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least one (1) year of experience working with fire alarm systems, electronics maintenance, electrical systems, life safety systems, or a related field.
- NICET Level I Certification (Fire Alarm Systems) or completion of the Fire Alarm Systems, Level I Exam preferred.
- Knowledge of electronics, electrical systems, and fire alarm technologies.
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve system issues.
- Ability to safely use testing equipment, meters, hand tools, and power tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
