About

The Role

The Electrical & Instrument Lead Technician is responsible for the safe, environmentally sound and efficient daily operation of the facility and directs other E&I maintenance personnel in performing skilled electrical and instrumentation work in support of the overall facility operation and in maintaining operation of the process plant and power generation plant in compliance with established production schedules and plant output requirements.

Position

Responsibilities
  • Takes an active role in working with operations supervisors, lead people and relief operators in prioritizing scheduled work in coordinating activities with operations and maintenance personnel.
  • Follows up and checks on all job activities throughout the shift to ensure all work assignments are completed correctly.
  • Advises, mentors, and helps team members complete difficult or complicated assignments.
  • Sets up and pre-stages parts from the warehouse and helps in finding and retrieving inventory items to expedite work.
  • Completes reports to the Daily Log with notations concerning future work if applicable. Enforces the daily entries to the E&I logbook.
  • Relays information from supervision and management and communicates with the crew concerning schedules, anticipated schedule changes, and overtime opportunities.
  • Maintains records of crew member’s attendance, including incidents of tardiness and early leaves.
  • Ensures that all time worked is recorded on completed work orders.
  • Ensures that the shift technicians conduct proper turnovers.
  • Considering the lead position a “working” position, the lead person expects to not only direct the crew’s assignments, but to also participate as part of the crew.
  • Communicates, prioritizes, and demonstrates safe work practices on all jobs. Ensures that properly filled out SWP’s are issued for all jobs. Promotes BBS entries into Ideagen.
  • Ensures that all job assignment work areas are left cleaned upon completion of work.
  • Ensures that work accidents or incidents involving crew members resulting in injury to persons or damage to property are reported to the Maintenance Superintendent, or in the superintendent’s absence, to the Power Plant Shift Supervisor.
  • Perform maintenance and testing of low and medium voltage switch gear, circuit breakers, motor starters, and power transformers.
  • Perform maintenance of higher voltage switchyard equipment and steam turbine driven generators.
  • Perform electrical maintenance work related to energy from waste boilers and its associated equipment, including but not limited to, pumps, fans, motors, conveyors & refuse cranes.
  • Perform electrical maintenance work related to energy from waste air pollution control systems.
  • Trouble shoot, assess, inspect, adjust, and make repairs as needed to the Continuous Emissions Motoring System (CEMS) as well as all facility flow, pressure, temperature, and level instrumentation, which includes but is not limited to, transmitter flow devices, level controls, temperature measurement, and flue gas analysis equipment.
  • Trouble shoot, assess, inspect, and adjust, and make repairs, as needed to the Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and historian devices.
