Key Responsibilities

  • Install, service, maintain and repair commercial and industrial refrigeration systems.
  • Diagnose refrigeration, electrical and mechanical faults.
  • Conduct preventative and scheduled maintenance.
  • Repair and replace compressors, condensers, evaporators, motors, pumps, valves and related components.
  • Perform pressure testing, leak detection, evacuation and refrigerant charging.
  • Monitor system temperatures, pressures and operating performance.
  • Read and interpret electrical diagrams, technical drawings and equipment manuals.
  • Complete service reports, job cards and maintenance records accurately.
  • Attend breakdowns and emergency call-outs when required.
  • Ensure tools, equipment and company vehicles are maintained correctly.
  • Liaise professionally with clients and provide feedback on repairs and maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure all work complies with health, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and energy efficiency.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians or assistants where required.
Minimum Requirements
  • Grade 12 / Matric.
  • Red Seal Trade Test qualification as a Refrigeration Technician or Refrigeration Mechanic is essential.
  • Minimum of five years post-trade refrigeration experience .
  • Strong experience with commercial and industrial refrigeration systems.
  • Sound knowledge of refrigeration cycles, electrical controls and mechanical components.
  • Proven fault-finding and diagnostic ability.
  • Experience working with compressors, condensers, evaporators and control systems.
  • Ability to read electrical diagrams and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of refrigerant handling, leak detection and system charging.
  • Valid drivers lisence.
  • Willing and able to attend after-hours breakdowns and standby call-outs.
  • Must be physically fit and comfortable working in plant rooms, cold rooms and confined spaces.
  • Must be able to work independently and manage jobs from diagnosis through to completion.
  • Reliable transport or the ability to travel to Worcester daily.
  • Strong communication, customer-service and administrative skills.
