The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) owns, operates, and maintains eight major toll facilities comprised of four bridges, two tunnels, and two turnpikes, across the State of Maryland. Nature of Work:
The Heavy Equipment Maintenance Supervisor I manages the preventative maintenance and repair of all vehicles and motorized equipment. Employees in this capacity supervise Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technicians and other assigned staff. The duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Maintains stockroom with a parts inventory sufficient to meet the daily demands of the shop;
- Develop equipment needs and present those needs to management for inclusion in the annual budget;
- Ensure safety inspections are performed on all equipment;
- Ensure all motorized equipment is properly serviced and maintained;
- Ensure all work and equipment history is recorded in the maintenance management system (MAXIMO); and
- Provide safety training and ensure all staff adheres to safety regulations pertaining to their shop operations.
Employees in this classification are considered essential employees and are subject to being on call 24 hours a day, as may be required in order to maintain continuous operation of a facility. Employees must provide the agency with a telephone number where they can be reached. Employees may be required to work rotating shifts to include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
The incumbent in this position will report to the Chief Facility Maintenance Officer or other designated official.
The current vacancy exists in Baltimore, MD. The eligible list from this recruitment may be used to fill vacancies at other MDTA locations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Five years of experience servicing, maintaining and repairing motor vehicles, gasoline and/or diesel engines, or heavy‑duty construction equipment. Three years of the required experience must include servicing and repairing heavy duty construction equipment and diesel engines.
