Class Description

The purpose of this class is to perform professional level dutiesin assisting in the coordination and completion of daily operations of assigned college division or function.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent. Advanced degree preferred.

Formal specialized training and licensed in the operation and maintenance of HVAC, mechanical and electrical systems; as well asEPA CFC Certification. An Electrical License, Siemens Master Programmer, and HVAC Masters License preferred.

Second Grade Stationary Engineers License required. First Grade Stationary Engineers License preferred.

A minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible maintenance experience in building mechanical systems, heating and cooling systems, pneumatic and digital controls and energy management, including experience with commercial boilers (minimumof 250 H.P.) and large chillers (minimum of 250 tons).

Flexibility and ability to change shift when requested orduring emergency situations.

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record of less thanfive (5) points on driving record.

Ability to participate in blood borne pathogens training withinsix (6) months of employment.

Hepatitis B vaccination or a signed waiver.

Background Check:

Candidates may be required to successfully pass a background investigation, to include driving and criminal history evaluation.

This is an Essential Position, and the employee must be available for building emergencies, and to perform regular duties or other assigned duties at times when the campus is closed to students andnon-essential staff. Subject to 24-hours standby or call-in for building emergencies. May be required to work overtime or special hours as needed or required.

Class Specific Essential Duties

Supervise and direct the operations of assigned College department or division.

Direct the development and maintenance of all departmental records and reports.

Develop and administer departmental policies and procedures.

Train and evaluate assigned staff, as required.

Develop budget projections for department or division, as required.

Oversee, monitor and/or control appropriations and expenditures, as required.

Position Specific Essential Duties

Responsible for the maintenance of all academic,administrative, and auxiliary buildings and structures on a single campus, including all utilities involving water, sewer, electrical and mechanical systems associated with heating, air conditioning and related chillers, fans, pumps, motors, ducting, heatex-changers, electrical and pneumatic control systems.

Directs the maintenance and operation of the building utility distribution system involving heating/chilled water and domestic water, electricity, gas, and steam. Assists the Director of Maintenance and Engineering in planning, organizing, and directing the operation and maintenance of the utility production/distribution facility.

Manages a preventative maintenance program of scheduled inspection and repair of electrical, mechanical equipment(including boilers, chillers, motors, pumps), and other systems,equipment and facilities to assure proper operation and to correct malfunctions before major breakdowns develop. Coordinates and performs building maintenance inspections on a periodic and recurring basis. Assures that work conditions are safe and conducive to efficient operations.

Supervises the installation and repair of all mechanical equipment.
