Transdev in Baltimore, MD, is seeking a Body Technician II to bolster our team. The Body Technician must be able to determine which specific parts or components of a bus or vehicle may need repair or replacement. Must have the ability to estimate the time required for restorations. You must possess your own tools and have a valid Driver's License. Position subject to Collective Bargaining Agreement:

  • $27.03 (Union Collective Bargaining Agreement Pay Scale)
  • Starting pay $27.03 with progression to $27.84 over 1 year
  • Candidates with current ASE Certifications may be eligible for placement at a higher starting wage in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

    Eligible full-time employees will receive an additional 32 hours of PTO per year
  • Paid Sick Leave:
    Employees with less than 1 year of service shall accrue up to 40 hours of sick leave in accordance with the Maryland Healthy Working Families Act and shall be able to start using this accrued time on the 107th day following the employee's date of hire.
  • Company paid ASE testing and tool reimbursement.
Responsibilities:
  • Performs damaged sheet metal and body repairs. Removes, replaces, or repairs body parts using hand and power tools.
  • Removes, installs, adjusts, and aligns body components. May repair locks, latches, and other accessory body parts. May perform glass and upholstery repairs.
  • Documents all repair and maintenance actions on Work Orders, including parts and materials used, time expended, and pertinent comments. Ensures the accuracy and completeness of all documentation entries prior to vehicle release.
  • Ensures vehicle security and safety while in the shop. Adheres to all Government rules and Shop safety practices relating to the operation of shop tools, use of personal safety services, housekeeping, and health. Follows all environmental practices regarding proper handling and disposal of all waste streams.
  • Communicates and adheres to Injury and Prevention (IP) standards
  • Maintain and manage inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment. Manage day-to-day operations of the body shop to ensure efficiency and productivity.
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of paint and collision experience preferred
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours in a garage setting.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Must be able to complete bodywork or light framework tasks such as dents, frame straightening, etc.
  • Must be able to operate tools/equipment used in the maintenance of vehicles (e.g., hammer, sanders, welding equipment, torches, paint guns, etc.). Fully understand safety measures and expectations when handling tools/equipment.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • ASE certifications and/or willingness to obtain.
Pre-Employment Requirements

Must submit to drug testing and a background check.

Must be able to pass a DOT physical examination.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, repetitive hand-wrist motion, and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping.
  • Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibrations and noise.
  • Must be able to work outside in various weather conditions.
