Grade 19: $64,942 - $77,908, Grade 22: $73,569 - $100,874.
WHO WE AREThe Montgomery County Department of Correction and Rehabilitation (DOCR) is responsible for the intake, reception, and assessment functions, including law enforcement processing of adult male and female offenders arrested in Montgomery County. Responsibility also includes the custody and care of male and female offenders who are either detained in a pretrial status or serving sentences of less than 18 months. In addition to comprehensive facility case management, the Inmate Services section provides a wide range of correctional services and programs to incarcerated individuals, including education, workforce development, substance abuse treatment, cognitive behavioral modification programs, reentry and life skills programs, faith-based supports, and library services.

Managing a complex pretrial and sentenced population within a correctional facility presents multiple challenges. As a core staff member of Inmate Services, the Correctional Specialist I/II Case Manager position provides intake assessments, housing classification, programs, and case management services for an offender population while working within the secure portion of the Montgomery County Correctional Facility and the Montgomery County Detention Center.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Conducting intake risk and diagnostic screening assessments, determining eligibility and providing referrals for facility programs and services, determining appropriate classification and housing assignments
- Providing case management services and crisis intervention to a diverse incarcerated individuals population within the facility housing areas
- Facilitating program groups on life skills topics to support offender change in thoughts and behaviors

- Assisting with services to enhance incarcerated individuals engagement
- Working closely with multidisciplinary team members
- Assisting with special projects and facility initiatives to expand services
- Maintaining incarcerated individuals case management records and documentation of services
- Cross training and providing coverage across all case management assignments
- Using digital data systems and performance measures
In addition to these daily case management functions, the employee will also provide coverage in other case management areas, assist with facility program initiatives and services, and may participate in disciplinary adjustment proceedings. The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, is required for this position as well as effective skills using computer technology in daily responsibilities.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONThis recruitment will establish an eligible list to fill one current vacancy and future vacancies within the Inmate Services section of the Detention Services Division (DSD).
This CSI/II Case Manager position reports to one of the CSIV Case Management Supervisors and works closely with other Case Managers and Inmate Services staff, as well as Custody and Security and Mental Health staff. The CSI/II Case Manager position works a schedule selected through an annual bid based on seniority – schedules range Monday-Friday with selected hours of either 7:30 am – 4 pm, 8 am – 4:30 pm, or 8:30 am – 5:30 pm.
