Description

Catholic Charities of Baltimore, Intergenerational Center is seeking an Employment Specialist to prepare program participants to enter the job market, provides post job placement support to the participants, and serves as an instructor to the participants. The work schedule is Monday-Friday 9 AM - 5 PM. The Intergenerational Center will provide a range of programs and opportunities for people of all ages and entire families in one central, state‑of‑the‑art facility.

The Intergenerational Center will feature and offer:
Early Head Start and Head Start education, gathering spaces for community groups, a start‑of the art recreation center, workforce development services, a community health clinic, behavioral health and substance abuse services, playgrounds and more. As an Intergenerational Center, our programs will be designed to foster engagement across generations, so that people of all ages can learn and benefit from one another.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Collects, organizes, and analyzes information about participants through records and interviews to appraise their interests, aptitudes, and abilities for employment planning.
  • Provides individualized employment counseling, job readiness coaching, and career pathway planning to support community members in securing and advancing in meaningful employment.
  • Provides targeted job readiness support and training referrals for eligible clients in coordination with supervision.
  • Develops and delivers job readiness workshops, including instruction in résumé and cover letter writing, job search strategies, and interviewing techniques.
  • Identifies and maintains employment and volunteer opportunities within the agency and community that align with participants’ skills and interests.
  • Builds and sustains relationships with local employers, modeling effective workplace interaction to enhance partnership opportunities and support successful placements.
  • Consistently achieves monthly outreach, engagement, and placement goals set by the Agency, maintaining timely and accurate reporting.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) years of related experience in workforce development, vocational services, or social services.
  • One (1) year of experience working with diverse and / or underserved populations, including individuals with barriers to employment.
  • Demonstrated experience with event coordination such as job fairs and resource events.
Certification/Licensure
  • CPR and/or First Aid within six months of employment and maintained thereafter.

  • Demonstrates accountability by consistently being punctual and maintaining reliable attendance.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills, ensuring clear and effective exchanges.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, relational, and customer service skills by interacting with staff, clients, and visitors with professionalism, courtesy, and a commitment to high‑quality service.
  • Possesses an excellent understanding of case management and crisis intervention processes, regulations, and procedures.
  • Maintains a safe environment for clients, visitors and co‑workers by following established safety protocols, promptly addressing hazards, and promoting a culture of accountability to ensure the well‑being of all individuals in the workplace.
  • Requires proficiency in using computer systems and software to perform job function, including but not limited to, basic Windows PC, web browsing (i.e., Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.), and Microsoft Outlook. Knowledge of other Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel PowerPoint, Teams, and One Drive is preferred.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • No remote or hybrid work availability based on core and essential functions of the position.
  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, or other similar structures as required to perform job tasks.
