* Job Summary:

** A Community Outreach Worker promotes programs and resources in the community and performs a variety of services to encourage citizen participation. The work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities.

Incumbents receive close supervision from a technical superior. Employees work a conventional workweek that includes evening hours and may require weekend work. Work is performed both in an office under normal working conditions and in neighborhoods, where incumbents may be exposed to extremes of heat and cold. The work requires minimum physical exertion.

* Education:

** Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.
** AND
* **
* Experience:

** Have six months of paid experience performing community service work, providing information and referral services or promoting community activities.
** OR
* *** Equivalency Notes:
** Have an equivalent combination of education and experience.
** Licenses, Registrations, and Certificates:
** Some positions in this class require a valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver’s license or an equivalent out-of-state driver’s license acceptable to the Office of Risk Management.

*** Ability to establish and maintain a good working relationship with co-workers, clients and patients of social and health programs.

** Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed.
** Probation
* * All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory six-month probation.
** Eligibility
* * Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.
