Entitlements Case Manager – Independent Contractor / W-2 (Part-Time)
Position overview: The Entitlements Case Manager provides case management services to community-based clients, helping them apply for and maintain entitlement benefits (Medicaid, Medicare, SSI/SSDI, TCA, SNAP, WIC, housing, employment, education, and other public assistance). The role may be fulfilled as a 1099 independent contractor or as a W‑2 employee, with a pay structure of fee-for-service (1099) or salary (W‑2).
Key Responsibilities- Conduct intake, individual and group case management sessions and crisis interventions.
- Assist clients in applying for and renewing benefits:
Medicaid, Medicare, SSI/SSDI, TCA, SNAP, WIC, housing, employment, education, and other public assistance. - Perform eligibility assessments, coordinate with agencies, and track application progress.
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation in ICANotes (or other EHR), meeting CARF, Medicaid, and COMAR requirements.
- Coordinate with clinical staff and external providers (housing, probation, substance use programs, etc.) to ensure comprehensive care.
- Participate in audits, service fidelity reviews, and quality‑improvement activities.
- Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance while managing client records.
- Stay current with regulations, best practices, and professional development requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Nursing, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Valid Maryland license or certification in one of the following: LCADC, LGADC, CAC‑AD, CSCAD, ADT, LCPC, LGPC, LCSW‑C, LCSW, LMSW, LBSW, LCMFT, LGMFT, Psychologist, Registered Psychology Associate, CRNP‑PMH, APRN‑PMH, CNS‑PMH, or student intern.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in behavioral health, case management, or related services.
- Proficiency with ICANotes/CRISP or comparable EHR system.
- Strong documentation, organizational, and crisis‑management skills.
- Knowledge of CARF, Medicaid, COMAR, and trauma‑informed care.
- Excellent communication, time‑management, and cultural‑responsive practice skills.
- 1099: fee‑for‑service with an estimated 20 hours per week; compensation range $1,000–$1,500 per week, commensurate with credentials.
- W‑2: salary range $50,000–$100,000 annually, paid on a fee‑for‑service basis for each scheduled session.
- W‑2 benefits include paid time off, family and medical leave, health/dental/vision insurance reimbursement (as available), supplemental disability insurance, retirement savings plan, and professional development support.
- Part‑time, 20 hours per week, Monday‑Friday 8:00‑5:00 (or as scheduled by client and organization).
- Clients served primarily in community-based group homes; additional visits may occur in assigned community offices, company offices, or via telehealth.
- Up to 10 % travel for interoffice or client site visits.
Reports to Operations Manager and the Social Work Supervisor for clinical oversight. Works collaboratively with program coordinators, external treatment providers, and other agencies.
