How this role contributes to the Y’s mission:
As a Y Family Services Manager, you will create and implement a Head Start recruitment plan to support program participation and enrollment, establish and maintain a waiting list, and work within the community, with families and parents/guardians, acting as an advocate for families, developing trusting relationships and ensuring that support services are available to meet family goals. You will work with families on an individualized basis to identify goals, strengths, and necessary services, and ensure parents have opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge that aid in child development.
You will be responsible for community partnerships, service coordination, and reporting, contributing to the Y and the broader community by helping economically disadvantaged families prepare for success in school and life.
This work is right for you if you have:
- An interest in the well-being and education of young children, enthusiasm, patience, good humor, good judgment and a positive spirit
- The ability to clearly communicate and effectively listen to children, parents/guardians, members, and other Y associates
- At least 2 years of experience working with adults in the Human Services or Social Work field
- Prior Head Start experience (preferred)
- An associate’s degree in social science, human services or related field OR a bachelor’s degree in family studies, social work, human services or related field (preferred)
