Catholic Charities of Baltimore, Weinberg Housing and Resource Center, Baltimore, MD.

Work schedule:

Monday‑Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM.

The Housing Specialist coordinates and manages housing placement, leasing, housing stability, and community resource services for adults and families. The role supports clients through housing readiness activities, housing search and placement, lease administration, landlord engagement, property compliance, and housing retention services. The supervisor’s organization provides emergency shelter, convalescent care, meals, showers, laundry, case management, and life‑skills classes with the goal of helping residents secure permanent housing.

• Coordinate housing services and placements, including search assistance, applications, lease negotiations, occupancy agreements, and retention activities.
• Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with landlords, property owners, management companies, and community partners to support housing opportunities for clients.
• Advocate, coordinate resources, educate, and refer clients to overcome barriers to housing stability.
• Collaborate with case managers and multidisciplinary teams to support successful housing placement and retention outcomes.
• Maintain accurate client, housing, and program records and ensure timely data entry, reporting, and documentation.
• Meet regularly with supervisors to review housing outcomes, program performance, compliance requirements, and client‑related concerns.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Conduct housing readiness assessments and assist clients in developing plans to secure permanent housing.
• Facilitate housing‑focused educational sessions and support clients in obtaining required documentation, completing housing applications, and participating in coordinated access processes.
• Encourage client participation in housing stabilization and case management activities in line with program requirements.
• Collaborate with shelter staff to support successful transitions from emergency shelter to permanent housing.
• Build relationships with senior living, assisted living, and other housing providers to expand housing options for eligible clients.

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field.
• At least two (2) years of experience in housing services, social services, case management, property management, community services, or work with vulnerable populations.
• Experience with affordable housing, HUD‑funded programs, homelessness services, supportive housing, or related programs is preferred.

• Outstanding interpersonal skills and a courteous, professional demeanor when interacting with staff, clients, visitors, property owners, and managers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency with computer systems and software, including basic Windows, web browsing, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and One Drive.

• No remote or hybrid work; must be on site for core functions.
• Flexibility to work beyond standard hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
• Responsiveness by phone during scheduled work hours and prompt return of calls.
• Mobility to walk, stand, travel between sites, lift or move objects up to 20 pounds in all directions.
• Proficiency with electronic communication, data entry, and handling small objects.
• Maintaining hearing and vision, with or without correction, sufficient for safe operation of a vehicle.
• Driving a personal vehicle is required; driver must be at least 21 years old, have a minimum of 2 years of driving experience, a valid driver’s license, and no more than three points on the driving record.
