Criminal Justice Social Worker — Reentry & Therapy Specialist

Introduction

The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) is seeking dedicated candidates to fill important roles within our department.

PSCS Social Worker I, Criminal Justice – Grade 17: $76,315 (potential growth up to $110,288).

PSCS Social Worker II, Criminal Justice – Grade 18: $81,444 (potential growth up to $117,737).

The main purpose of this position is to provide a full range of social work services to incarcerated individuals housed at the assigned DPSCS facility, and to provide services to regional institutions as needed.

Social Work Services:

• Provide clinical and case‑management services, including development of comprehensive re‑entry plans for special‑needs incarcerated individuals.
• Provide individual intervention for crisis or problem‑solving as assigned.
• Provide ongoing individual therapy as assigned and resources permit.
• Act as a resource and assistant in assessing PREA screening, eligibility for domestic violence group treatment, and release planning services.
• Conduct therapeutic/didactic groups based on cognitive‑behavioral theory for the general population.
• Present at clinical staff meetings when scheduled.

Related Administrative Duties:

• Maintain and complete monthly reports, statistics, case notes and appropriate records on all services provided.
• Participate in institutional, regional and divisional staff meetings.
• Serve on special task forces and work groups as assigned by supervisor.
• Complete special projects or tasks as assigned.

PSCS Social Worker I, Criminal Justice

  Determined by the State Board of Social Work Examiners under the licensing requirements for Social Workers.
• Experience:

PSCS Social Worker II, Criminal Justice

• Education:
  
  Determined by the State Board of Social Work Examiners under the licensing requirements for Social Workers.
• Experience:
  
  Two years of experience providing clinical and therapeutic social work services applying principles, methods and procedures of professional social work to clients requiring rehabilitative counseling.
• Note:
  
  Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a commissioned officer in Social Work classifications or specialty codes in the Social Science, Psychology or Welfare fields on a year‑for‑year basis for the required experience.
